I've just moved here, but I am quickly learning the many reasons people choose to live in Charlottesville, VA.

First, it's the views! The Blue Ridge Mountains provide amazing views everywhere you look. Most of the days are sunny and that highlights the colors, but even on foggy days, the mountains provide a look of beautiful nature that's hard to match.

Second, it's the people! The friendliness you find here is unparalleled in my mind. I've been lost several times, stopped for directions, and found folks so happy to help me that it's almost hard to believe. Store clerks, post office workers…everyone has a smile and wishes you a good day—it's awesome!

Third, it’s the University of Virginia! Students come from far and wide. UVA offers much to the community as well. Often parents come to visit their children and decide to move here or just purchase a second home or condo here as a vacation property.

Fourth, it’s the history! I loved studying history in school, but here I can actually see it. Places I only read about come alive: Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, James Madison's Montpelier, and James Monroe's Ashland. All offer tours and have beautiful grounds for you to enjoy.

Last, it’s the Arts! Charlottesville supports the arts community in a big way. Popular artists play at the John Paul Jones Arena on a regular basis, and a wide range of genres can be found in Charlottesville’s many clubs, including bluegrass and a poetry reading or two. I've been researching these places and will bring you more as I learn about them.

They say Virginia is for lovers. Well, Charlottesville has a lot of love to give new residents. Just ask me!
